Are you thinking about buying a home? You might be sabotaging yourself without even realizing it! But don’t worry – we have you covered. Here are the top 3 things -not- to do if you are even THINKING about buying a new home:
One, Don’t make any large purchases before or during your sales contract period. New inquiries on your credit can affect your score, and big purchases mean new monthly payments that have to be included in your qualifying income and expenses.
Two, don’t shop before getting pre-approved! You need to know what you qualify for and have an idea of what your new house payment will look like. Many home sellers won’t even consider a purchase offer from a buyer who is not pre-approved. They want to know that you can afford to buy their home!
Three, don’t plan any long trips during your contract period. There are many things you’ll want to be in town to handle – including inspections, document signing and closing!
